Pentagon Clarifies Armenia's Inclusion in 'Defender 23' Exercise Was an Error
The inclusion of Armenia among the participants in the 'Defender 23' military exercises was a mistake. This was announced by the U.S. Department of Defense in response to a query from the Armenian service of Voice of America.
“Armenia's inclusion in the list of countries participating in 'Defender 23' was simply an error made by the Pentagon's press office internal team. The Armenian side has never participated in 'Defender 23' exercises and should not have been included in the list of participants,” the response stated.
On April 6, the Pentagon's website included Armenia in the list of countries participating in the 'Defender 2023' multinational exercise. However, shortly afterward, the U.S. Department of Defense revised the announcement, removing Armenia from the participant list.
