Anahit Manasyan's Candidacy Approved, Only Tuguhi Tovmasyan Voted for Ghazaryan
The candidate for the position of Human Rights Defender of Armenia will be Anahit Manasyan, proposed by the ruling party, the Civil Contract (CP). This decision was made during today's meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs.
Manasyan received votes from four members of the committee. It is noteworthy that the opposition nominated Edgar Ghazaryan, who received the support of only one member, the committee chair Tuguhi Tovmasyan.
It should be recalled that today, April 4th, during an extraordinary session of the committee, the issue of nominating a candidate for Human Rights Defender is being discussed. The CP's candidate is the Deputy Prosecutor General Anahit Manasyan, while the opposition factions 'Armenia' and 'I Have Honor' proposed Edgar Ghazaryan as their candidate.
