International Fact-finding Mission Needed for Nagorno-Karabakh and Lachin Corridor, Secretary of Security Council
Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Latvia, held meetings today, March 29, with Andris Teikmanis, head of the President's Office, Janis Kajočņiks, the National Security Adviser to the President, Inggrida Levrenš, Deputy Minister of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mārtiņš Čepurītis, the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister.
According to the Security Council office, during the meetings, the parties emphasized the importance of conducting high-level meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, as well as the presence of the EU mission in Armenia. Secretary Grigoryan presented to his partners the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, as well as the security environment challenges faced by Armenia, including concerns about a potential escalation from Azerbaijan.
In this context, the Secretary of the Security Council underscored the necessity of deploying an international fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin Corridor. The Latvian partners expressed their willingness to support Armenia on security issues and to strengthen the EU mission.
