We Are Again Faced with a Decision, Just Like 35 Years Ago: Ruben Vardanyan

The State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh and head of the operational headquarters, Ruben Vardanyan, held an expanded consultation on February 17 with the participation of the leadership of state bodies and district administration leaders. According to a statement released by the State Minister's office, Vardanyan presented the work accomplished and planned during his first 100 days in office, noting that due to circumstances, 67 of those days had been during the blockade.

He emphasized that the work was carried out by a united team during the blockade period. The State Minister elaborated on the principles of government activity, existing challenges, priorities, and the main directions for collaborative efforts that have been undertaken and need to continue, as well as discussing risks and unfulfilled tasks.

Noting that 35 years ago the Nagorno-Karabakh movement began around this time, Vardanyan pointed out that the struggle of the people of Artsakh continues today. “At that time, the people went out into the streets and said that Nagorno-Karabakh must be free and Armenian. Few believed that there was a chance to change the situation. But you did it, and it is very symbolic that we speak about this again in February and are faced with a decision. In recent months, I have often heard the question: what does it mean to fight? I say that fighting is primarily the will that drives you forward; secondly, it is taking steps that are important. Fighting does not only mean preparing for war; fighting means doing very significant, serious, everyday work in all directions,” he stated.
