Twitter Allows Advertising for Marijuana
Twitter, the social media platform owned by entrepreneur Elon Musk, has made changes to its policy allowing American companies to place advertisements for drugs, specifically cannabis (marijuana). This was reported by Politico.
On the company's official website, in the business and partnerships section, it is also stated that “cannabis advertisers can target Canada” as well as the United States when promoting their own products, which are subject to certain restrictions. These restrictions relate to the need for “appropriate regulatory authorization” and advertising only in countries and regions where such advertisers have permission to promote their services and products online. Moreover, it is prohibited to distribute these offers among underage users of the social network.
According to Politico, this campaign will be in effect until the end of March. Previously, scientists from the University of Western Australia found that the legalization of marijuana in the U.S. has led to an increase in testicular cancer cases.
