Snow, Blizzard, Black Ice: Situation on Roads in Armenia
The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads in the territory of Armenia.
The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd fortress and Lake Kary are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is closed to trucks with trailers and is difficult to navigate for other types of vehicles.
The Spitak serpentine is only difficult to navigate for trucks with trailers. The following roads are difficult to traverse: Amasia-Yegnajur, Amasia-Berdashen, Gyumri-Amasia, Lanjik-Mastara (blizzard), and Lanjik-Talin (blizzard).
In the Aragatsotn region, there are patches of black ice on the roads. Snow is falling in the regions of Aragatz, Aparan, Amasia, and Baghramyan, as well as in the cities of Spitak, Stepanavan, Vanadzor, and Kajaran.
There is a blizzard in the regions of Talin, Aragatz, Ashotzk, and Amasia (low visibility).
According to information received from the Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
