We Have Reached a Compromise with Putin: Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that he has reached a compromise with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding interests in the Middle East, as reported by the RIA Novosti news agency.

According to Netanyahu, Iran allegedly wants to create an "army" and deploy it in Syria near the Israeli border. Additionally, he believes that Tehran is "aiming to destroy the Jewish state and endanger its inhabitants through the development of nuclear weapons."

"Initially, I told Putin, ‘Look, we can choose—we can head towards confrontation or find common ground: Israel is free to act… We do not interfere with your actions in Syria, and you leave us in peace.’ We have found a compromise that serves Israel's interests, and Putin believes that it does not threaten Russian interests," Netanyahu stated in an interview with French television channel LCI.

The politician pointed out that he and Putin decided to "leave each other in peace." Earlier, Netanyahu mentioned that Israel does not wish to engage in military confrontation with Russia. However, he admitted that the two countries have a "complex relationship." According to him, this is due to Israeli and Russian aircraft flying near each other "at spitting distance" along the border with Syria. Netanyahu noted that Tel Aviv needs the freedom to operate in the air, but this could lead to confrontation with Moscow, emphasizing that he does not wish for such a development of events.
