British and German Consulates in Istanbul Decide to Suspend Operations
The representatives of the British and German consulates based in Istanbul have decided to suspend their operations due to security concerns.
"The British Consulate General is currently closed to the public as a precautionary measure," the diplomatic mission stated, as quoted by RIA Novosti. The German consulate has also been closed since February 1.
Both diplomatic missions have opted to halt their operations owing to perceived threats of terrorist attacks in the area where the consulates are located.
Earlier, the Dutch consulate had also suspended its activities. Additionally, the embassies of the United States and France have warned their citizens about the potential for terrorism in Istanbul.
