Armenia Opposes Official Relations Between CSTO PA and Turkic States PA
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Chairman of the Political Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the CSTO PA, and head of the Armenian delegation, Hakob Arshakyan, along with the Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Defense and Security, Andranik Kocharyan, and the Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Foreign Relations, Eduard Aghajanyan, participated in the second consultation of the chairpersons of the committees of the parliaments of CSTO member states in Moscow, at the State Duma of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Public Relations and Communications Department of the National Assembly of Armenia.
Hakob Arshakyan expressed his views regarding the official formulation of the relationship between the CSTO PA and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States.
“This formulation is unacceptable for the Armenian side at the current stage, as hostile actions are being carried out by the working bodies of these structures, and clear assessments are being made in favor of Azerbaijan, including regarding armed attacks against Armenia,” stated the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly.
During the consultation, Hakob Arshakyan also presented the directions of activity and work carried out by the Political Issues and International Cooperation Committee of the CSTO PA under his leadership. It was noted that the main efforts of the committee are focused on supporting the implementation of the statutory goals and objectives of the CSTO, improving the legal frameworks of the CSTO, harmonizing and coordinating the national legislation of CSTO member states in the field of foreign policy, as well as implementing relevant decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
