The 2nd Army Corps Has a New Commander
The Commander of the 2nd Army Corps has been appointed Garegin Poghosyan by the decree of RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
“Based on the Prime Minister’s proposal and in accordance with Article 133, part 1 of the Constitution, as well as Article 35.1, part 1 and Article 37, part 1, point 1 of the Law on Military Service and Status of Military Personnel: Garegin Poghosyan is appointed as the Commander of the 2nd Army Corps,” the decree states.
It is noteworthy that on January 19, at around 01:30, a fire broke out in the barracks of the engineering company of the RA Ministry of Defense military unit located in the territory of the village of Azat in the Gegharkunik province under unclear circumstances. Following the incident, several personnel were dismissed, including the Commander of the 2nd Army Corps, Colonel Vahram Frunzhik Grigoryan; the Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Corps, Colonel Mihran Sergey Makhsoodyan; the Deputy Commander for Rear and Combat Service Support, Rear Chief Colonel Shiraz Gevorgi Khachatryan; the Deputy Commander of the 2nd Army Corps for combat duty, Colonel Arthur Serzhiki Ohanyan; and the Chief of the Fire Safety Service of the Rear Directorate of the RA Armed Forces, Colonel Sargis Roberti Mazmanyan.
