You say it’s absurd, do you realize how our people will look at you? - Chakhoyan

The fact that our opposition colleagues refuse to acknowledge the hundreds of cases of electoral bribery is, excuse me, at least absurd. These incidents are not just one, two, or a few dozen; there are hundreds of cases, and they speak of distorted fates. This was stated by Taron Chakhoyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction, during a press brief, responding to the remark that there are cases related to electoral bribery, while representatives of "Strong Armenia" deny the existence of any illegal actions or confessional testimonies.

“In the National Assembly session hall, these people declare it’s absurd to distribute electoral bribes. Well, excuse me again, dear people, you have absolutely no connection to that electoral bribery. So, how will you look into the eyes of our people?” he stated. “Our society, our citizens, our people know who distributed the electoral bribes. Are you envisioning how our people will look at you when you claim it’s absurd? This is at least, excuse me, but it’s unserious.”

He added, “To this day, no one has been held accountable for those distorted fates. Those people were used during the elections for distributing electoral bribes; they were intended for one-time use. Now these individuals have found themselves under criminal cases and behind bars, and they have already been crossed out by those who used them.”

Responding to the opposition’s assertions that the government is repressing the opposition, Chakhoyan said, “A repressive government will never call on the opposition to take to the streets. This is absurd. Such cases and phenomena simply do not exist in the world.”
