Officials of Erebuni Administration Detained on Bribery Charges

As a result of investigative and procedural actions conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia under Article 435 (part 2, points 1 and 3) and Article 436 (part 2, point 3) of the Armenian Criminal Code, as well as operational and investigative measures carried out in collaboration with the National Security Service of Armenia, factual data have been obtained indicating that V. S., the chief specialist of the Trade, Services, and Advertising Division of the Erebuni Administrative District, along with K. Kh., the head of the same division, have been receiving bribes from entrepreneurs throughout 2022.

Specifically, it has been established that these officials from the Erebuni Administration, in violation of the appropriate procedures, failed to register the installation of advertising panels by several entrepreneurs conducting trade activities within the district and did not undertake any measures of accountability for that. Additionally, they accepted bribes totaling 320,000 AMD from these entrepreneurs between November and December 2022 in exchange for not collecting the full tax due for outdoor trade.

On January 17, 2023, V. S. and K. Kh. were arrested on suspicion of receiving bribes by an investigator from the Anti-Corruption Committee. A preliminary investigation is underway.
