Power Interruptions to Begin in Abkhazia Due to Deficit
Starting tomorrow, January 12, a schedule for power interruptions will come into effect in Abkhazia. The outages will occur four times a day for one hour each due to the electricity deficit, as reported by the press service of the Abkhazian company "Chernomorenergo."
"Due to high consumption, the electricity deficit in the republic reaches 165 million kWh - 115 million for the flow from Russia and 50 million for consumption from the Inguri HPP," the report states.
It is noted that during the period from January 1 to March 31, 2023, the republic requested 715 million kWh from Russia. However, the Russian side allocated only 600 million kWh during that period, resulting in a deficit of 115 million kWh from the Russian Federation," the statement from "Chernomorenergo" mentions.
It is also clarified that regarding consumption from the Inguri HPP, with 300 million kWh of electricity planned for this period, the actual production has reached about 250 million kWh, leading to a deficit of up to 50 million kWh.
