Price on Turkey's Actions in Syria and Iraq
The spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Ned Price, has released a written statement emphasizing the need to de-escalate tensions in Syria against the backdrop of Turkey's actions, as well as opposing uncoordinated military operations in Iraq.
“The United States expresses sincere condolences for the deaths of civilians in Syria and Turkey. We call for a de-escalation of tensions in Syria to protect the civilian population and support the common goal of defeating the Islamic State. We continue to oppose any uncoordinated military actions in Iraq that violate the country’s sovereignty,” the statement reads.
It is reminded that earlier, Turkey announced its intention to carry out air operations in Syria and Iraq.
