Çavuşoğlu: 'If you want escalation on the island, we will respond accordingly'
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has stated that Turkey will not leave unanswered the U.S. decision to lift the arms embargo on Greek Cyprus. This has been reported by Turkish media.
'Turkey will respond with concrete steps to Washington’s decision to lift the arms embargo on Greek Cyprus. If you want escalation on the island, we will respond accordingly,' the Turkish foreign minister noted.
Çavuşoğlu also reminded that the U.S. has made a number of decisions regarding Greek Cyprus. 'For decades, the U.S. has pursued a balanced policy on the Cyprus issue concerning the Turkish and Greek communities of the island. The same balance has existed in relations with Greece and Turkey,' the minister recalled.
