What is Azerbaijan's Perspective? Pashinyan Discusses the Nagorno-Karabakh Issue
During a meeting with the Armenian community in Vladivostok, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that no common positions were reached regarding the most important issues concerning Armenia during the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the European Council in Brussels.
"The discussion particularly revolved around the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. What is Azerbaijan's perspective? They believe that the Nagorno-Karabakh problem has been resolved, and there is nothing left to discuss. Our position, and clearly that of the international community, does not align with Azerbaijan's stance. It is evident that this position is not shared in particular by the Russian Federation. During my official visit to Russia, the President of Russia and I signed a statement acknowledging that we need to cooperate towards resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. This means that Russia acknowledges there is a problem that needs addressing. And this is logical, because if there were no issue, Russian peacekeeping forces would not be present in Nagorno-Karabakh," the Prime Minister noted.
According to him, during the Brussels meeting, both Armenia and Azerbaijan stated their desire to achieve peace. Pashinyan also added that absolutely everyone wants peace, but each has their own perception, conditions, outcomes, and atmosphere regarding peace. He suggested that this is where conflicts arise.
