Ukraine, Russia, and Europe on the Brink of Serious Danger: IAEA Director General Summarizes Visit to Nuclear Power Plant
IAEA's delegation spent exactly 3 hours and 20 minutes at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and then left the site, as reported by an Izvestia correspondent. Only the technical team of the mission remains at the plant to carry out necessary inspections.
"The mission of the IAEA at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is to protect the nuclear power plant from a possible nuclear accident," said General Director Grossi upon arrival. "We must do everything to reach an agreement with both sides," he added.
According to Grossi, one of the objectives of the mission is to "examine the possibility of a permanent presence of IAEA inspectors on site." An advisor to the head of Rosatom also reported that as long as the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant continues, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and Europe are on the brink of very serious danger.
