Are Positions in the Government Changing? Political Parties Respond to Circulating Rumors
This morning, media outlets reported that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is preparing to make changes within the government. According to these reports, Edmon Marukyan is vying for the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aram Sargsyan for Deputy Prime Minister, and negotiations are underway with Gagik Tsarukyan.
Ani Khachatryan, a member of the Republic Party, denies the rumors circulating in the media that party leader Aram Sargsyan is seeking the Deputy Prime Minister position. In a conversation with Armtimes, Khachatryan said, "There has been no such discussion with the members of the government."
David Khajakyan, a member of the Bright Armenia party, also denies that Edmon Marukyan, the Ambassador-at-Large and leader of the LHK, will be appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He states, "Over the last two months, I have conducted monitoring and realized that such information is published by the opposition. In their view, autumn will be hot just like their heated spring was. They imagine that the authorities will be pressured and will be forced to share responsibilities, forming coalitions as they did before, including with the ARF, and believed it to be a consolidated government. They do not realize that a person can receive a position to engage in state-building, not to distribute offices among themselves to share responsibilities with others."
Arman Abovyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia party, also refutes the rumors that negotiations are taking place with party leader Gagik Tsarukyan. He said, "I do not have such information; I will refrain from commenting on these fabricated stories."
