Peacekeepers will not move an inch from Lachin until the new road is operational, Seleznyov
Russian peacekeepers will not move an inch from the Lachin corridor until the new road is operational, Maxim Seleznyov, the advisor to the Russian Embassy in Yerevan, stated in an interview with Radio Liberty today.
The senior diplomat emphasized that there are agreements in this regard and that the parties are in direct contact, without going into details about the nature of these agreements and between whom they are.
“Russian peacekeepers will be redeployed only at the moment the new corridor is opened. The steps and sequence of steps specified in the [November 9, 2020] trilateral statement indicate that the corridor is constructed first, and until it begins to operate, Russian peacekeepers occupy the five-kilometer corridor surrounding that road,” Seleznyov noted.
“Russian peacekeepers will not occupy the new corridor until it is operational, and there are agreements regarding this. The parties are in direct contact, and I assure you that the peacekeepers will not move an inch until the new corridor is in place,” Maxim Seleznyov added.
