Former TV Presenter Becomes Israel's New Prime Minister
Yair Lapid, the leader of the "Yesh Atid" party, became the head of the Israeli government on Friday, July 1. This was reported by The Times of Israel.
It is noted that he will lead a transitional government ahead of the national elections scheduled for November 1.
"We will do everything in our power for a strong and prosperous Jewish democratic state, because this is our duty and above all, it is important," Lapid said during the ceremony of transferring powers from former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
He also emphasized that the country must return to the "Israeli unity doctrine."
"Even if we go to elections in a few months, the challenges we face will not wait. We must address the rising cost of living, campaign against Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah, and confront the forces that threaten to turn Israel into a non-democratic country," Lapid stated.
The publication reminded that Lapid is a former TV presenter and entered politics only ten years ago.
