Turkish Intellectuals Express Support for Karo Paylan
A group of intellectuals in Turkey, including 47 journalists and lawyers, has issued a joint statement expressing support for Karo Paylan, an Armenian MP from the pro-Kurdish "Peoples' Democratic Party" (HDP), according to Ermenihaber.
The statement particularly emphasizes that all threats and insults directed at Paylan are considered as addressed to the intellectuals themselves.
When Paylan presented a bill in parliament to recognize the Armenian Genocide and remove the names of those who committed genocide from public spaces, it led to him being targeted by both the government and the opposition.
