Russia to Provide Grain to Afghanistan if Necessary
Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the urgent dispatch of grain to Afghanistan if necessary, said Zamir Kabulov, the special envoy of the Russian leader for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry, during a June 14 broadcast on Russian First Channel.
According to him, the head of state has "principally approved the allocation of a certain quantity of grain if necessary, considering the good harvest expected in Russia." Kabulov explained that the difficult economic situation in Afghanistan "could worsen this summer due to the fact that last winter was not very snowy, and the harvest prospects are disappointing."
