Minister on the Case of the Child Found in the Debed River
During the discussion of the execution of the state budget for 2021 in the National Assembly, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Narek Mkrtchyan, stated that the child who fell into the Debed River is currently in a temporary shelter.
Recall that the child's mother threw her 2-year-old daughter, Arevik, into the Debed River, and a man rescued the girl from the water and took her to the hospital. The child's mother has been arrested.
"In connection with this incident, the Unified Social Service is actively involved, and a comprehensive assessment needs to be conducted to understand the reasons and motivations. The child is currently in a temporary shelter until her status is resolved," said Mkrtchyan.
He noted that there is a need to establish a duty institution in the Unified Social Services, at least initially in the regions.
Mkrtchyan mentioned that work is currently underway in this direction.
