Armenian Side Completely Rejects Border Reevaluation with Turkey: Aghajanyan

We do not see willingness from Turkey to take steps in the short term, stated Edward Aghajanyan, chairman of the National Assembly's Permanent Commission on Foreign Relations, during a live broadcast with CivilNet.

“The Turkish side has not provided any positive signals regarding specific actions,” Aghajanyan noted.

In response to a question from reporters about Turkey's objective—whether it aims to delay the process—Aghajanyan replied that it is in Turkey's interest to be part of this conversation.

When asked by Arshaluyse Mghdesyan about the recent statement made by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu regarding border reevaluation, Aghajanyan answered that such hints had also emerged during negotiations between the special representatives of Turkey and Armenia, but the Armenian side has categorically rejected it.

Aghajanyan emphasized, “There is nothing to discuss here; the borders were defined during the USSR era, and a new map is not feasible.” He also commented, “One can guess why Turkey is raising this issue.”
