Major Who Hit 29-Year-Old Pregnant Woman in Yerevan to Appear in Court Tomorrow
On April 29, under the directive of Gor Tadevosyan, head of the road traffic crime investigation unit of the Yerevan investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, Andranik Parsadanyan, a senior investigator in the same division of particularly important cases, will submit a motion to the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction. The motion will request that the court impose a two-month detention as a preventive measure against 51-year-old Aram Navasardyan, a resident of Ararat Province.
According to Shamshyan.com, Navasardyan serves as a commander of the third division of the escort troop of the road police and holds the rank of police major. He is suspected of having hit 29-year-old Sona Mnatsakanyan (who is pregnant) resulting in her death at the intersection of Paronyan and Leo Streets in Yerevan on April 26.
If the court grants the investigator's motion, he will be transferred to the “Vardashen” penitentiary facility of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, commonly known as the “military police prison.”
