Number of Violations Among Migrants in Russia Increases
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported an increase in violations among foreign citizens and labor migrants this year, despite a reduction in inspection measures. Specifically, violations of entry and residence regulations have surged by more than 114% compared to last year. This information was provided to TASS by the ministry's press service in response to the agency's inquiry.
“Despite the reduction in intensive inspection measures, the information on administrative actions received from regional agencies of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs indicates an increase in effectiveness in identifying migrants engaged in illegal work activities in Russia,” the agency's representative stated.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a total of 55,700 administrative protocols were drafted against foreign citizens for violations of entry and residence regulations during the months of January and February 2022. This figure represents a staggering 114.2% increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 26,000 violations. Moreover, there has been a nearly 22% and 88% increase in violations related to illegal labor activities and restrictions on certain types of work, respectively. In terms of figures, last year’s two-month data showed 5,500 and 692 violations, while January-February 2022 registered 6,700 and 1,300, respectively.
