Russia Capable of Striking Without Warning, Says Stoltenberg
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced the largest troop buildup in Europe since the Cold War. His remarks are cited by TASS.
Stoltenberg expressed concern about the situation at the Russia-Ukraine border. According to him, the complex situation regarding European security is tied to troop deployments at the Ukrainian border, as well as aggressive rhetoric.
“There is no doubt that we are now witnessing the largest concentration of military forces in Europe since the end of the Cold War,” Stoltenberg stated. He also added that there are no signs of de-escalation around Ukraine; on the contrary, there is an increase in the number of Russian troops. He emphasized that Russia is capable of making a strike without warning.
Earlier, leaders of the EU, NATO, and the USA held a phone call in which they called for immediate de-escalation of the situation surrounding Ukraine.
