Biden Informs Allies of Russia's Attack on Ukraine Deadline: Politico
U.S. President Joe Biden informed leaders of several EU and NATO countries during negotiations on February 11 that Russia's attack on Ukraine is expected to begin on February 16.
This information comes from Politico, which cites high-ranking officials indicating that missile strikes and cyberattacks will precede the invasion of Russian troops, according to intelligence from Washington.
As noted by the publication, there is skepticism in Europe regarding the American statement. “In the EU, they still refuse to believe it. That would be such a mistake... The war would be very costly,” the paper quotes one source.
At the same time, participants in the negotiations agreed that the main thing now is to maintain unity and be prepared for sanctions against Moscow.
It is worth mentioning that the German magazine Der Spiegel also reports that Biden named February 16 as the probable date for the Russian troops' invasion of Ukraine during discussions. Numerous details regarding the preparations and routes for this attack have been presented to allies. The parties have agreed to double diplomatic efforts in the coming days regarding the resolution of the situation around Ukraine.
