Video: Ararat Mirzoyan also plans to quit smoking as tobacco discussed again in the government
During today’s government meeting, the draft on approving the "Technical regulations for the safety of tobacco product substitutes" was discussed. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan reminded that the Armenian government has made a significant political decision regarding restrictions on tobacco and its substitutes.
He noted that the law's requirements on reducing and preventing health damage from tobacco products and their substitutes also necessitate the establishment of technical regulations for the safety of tobacco product substitutes, enabling regulation of these as well.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that individuals should not see tobacco products displayed behind the counter in stores. Ararat Mirzoyan, who is also considering quitting smoking, inquired about how sales are conducted in specialized tobacco shops; the Prime Minister responded that it doesn’t matter where it is.
Nikol Pashinyan reminded that smoking is prohibited in enclosed spaces starting March 15. Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan also mentioned that the rules for the smoking ban have already come into force in medical institutions or workplaces.
