Zahharova on the Return of 8 Armenian Prisoners of War
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zahharova, has spoken regarding the return of 8 Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijan.
She noted that the Russian Foreign Ministry welcomes the return of these 8 Armenian prisoners and added, "Of course, we consider it important to make parallel efforts to clarify the fate of those missing during the conflict, and we will support this both nationally and as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group."
The Foreign Ministry representative reminded that on December 2, 2020, through the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, 146 individuals were returned, including 127 to the Armenian side and 19 to the Azerbaijani side.
It is noteworthy that on February 7, 2021, 8 Armenian servicemen, who were captured by Azerbaijan, were returned to Armenia through the mediation of French President Emmanuel Macron and President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has published the names of the released prisoners of war. They are Sargis Tarzyan, Vardges Balayan, Armen Petrosyan, Arthur Babayan, Hmayak Sargsyan, Gurgen Galoyan, Grigor Kyureghyan, and Vagharsak Maloyan.
