Armenia Has Ready Drones, Currently in Testing Phase: Minister
Armenia already has ready-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that are currently in the testing phase. This was stated by the Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan during a press briefing with journalists at the National Assembly.
“The work on creating Armenian UAVs has been ongoing for a long time. During my time in office, we are nearing the final phase. There are various companies that have had successes, and some of them already have ready-made products. They are in the testing phase, and there are also those that have already passed state trials,” Khachaturyan noted.
He emphasized that this concerns two types of UAVs: reconnaissance and combat. The minister stressed that the state is inclined to have all types of unmanned aerial vehicles used in military situations, including kamikaze drones.
“There are various solutions, and their proposers consistently introduce something new into the products they create. We have clearly established the issue — we are ready to purchase their products for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, the government, particularly our ministry, has provided significant support to allow them to present their production or deliver their products,” Khachaturyan said.
He mentioned that the ready-made UAVs are undergoing state testing, and once the Ministry of Defense announces that they are ready to purchase them, a contract will be concluded, which would mean that the respective manufacturer can produce UAVs in larger quantities. The Minister of High-Tech Industry found it difficult to specify timelines.
