Zakharova Labels Blinken's Statement as Impudent, Suggests Learning 'Another Lesson from History'
The words of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the presence of Russian peacekeeping forces in foreign countries reflect the stance of the White House. This was stated on Sunday, January 9, during a phone briefing by a representative of the American administration, as reported by iz.ru.
"The statements made by Secretary Blinken the day before reflect the U.S. position in the negotiations (regarding security guarantees)," he noted. Additionally, the White House emphasized the disagreement over several issues proposed by Russia in the context of the upcoming meeting.
Recall that a day earlier, on Saturday, Blinken, commenting on the entry of Russian peacekeeping forces into Kazakhstan, stated that Washington has learned a lesson from history, supposedly noting that "when the Russians are at your home, it is difficult to make them leave." On the same day, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, called the American diplomat's statement desperate, as it lacked substantiation.
Furthermore, she deemed Antony Blinken's comment as impudent and suggested he learn "another lesson from history," reminding him of those who were unfortunate to see such unwanted guests in their "home," like the U.S.
