“Hey tired, what are you doing, just sitting there.” Tensions remain high in Parakar
“Get out and see what the people are doing outside, how can you lead when you have come to sit here, hey tired,” “you are the tired one.” Tensions continue to rise in Parakar’s council.
It is noteworthy that as a result of the local elections on December 5, the “Living Country” party received 10 mandates in the 21-member council of Parakar, and their candidate, Volodya Grigoryan, was elected as the community leader with 10 votes. Even though 10 votes is less than 50 percent, the “Living Country” party argues that if there is only one candidate nominated, he can be elected with over 40 percent of the votes.
After this, the remaining 11 members of the council arrived, and David Minasyan, the candidate of the “David Minasyan” alliance, was elected as the community mayor with 11 votes. He was also supported by members of the ruling Civil Contract party.
On December 23, supporters of the “Living Country” party gathered in the yard of the Parakar culture house, where the swearing-in ceremony for their candidate was expected to take place. However, the police did not allow them to enter the building, so the swearing-in ceremony was held outside. On the same day, the “David Minasyan” alliance filed a lawsuit to annul the election results. The administrative court decided to invalidate the results of the mayoral elections in the Parakar community.
