Authorities Must Honor International Human Rights Obligations, NATO on Situation in Kazakhstan

NATO shares serious concerns regarding the situation in Kazakhstan, including reports of casualties. This was stated by Javier Colomina, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, and Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.

“We urge all parties to exercise restraint, avoid violence, and continue dialogue. Authorities must respect international human rights obligations, including the right to peaceful protest,” Colomina stated in a message posted on Twitter.
