Importance of Ongoing Processes in Kazakhstan from Armenia's Perspective: An Orientalist's View
Orientalist Armen Petrosyan's commentary: "The importance of the ongoing processes in Kazakhstan from Armenia's perspective. While refraining from evaluating Kazakhstan as a post-Soviet country experiencing a range of internal political developments influenced by numerous objective realities, it is nevertheless crucial to consider the potential various impacts on Armenia.
In particular:
- The developments in Kazakhstan (especially considering their socio-economic foundations) may have a cascading effect on several adjacent or allied regimes, such as those in Russia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
- The various possible outcomes of the events in Kazakhstan could affect Russia's global and regional positions positively or negatively, thereby indirectly impacting the South Caucasus, and consequently, Armenia, Artsakh, and Armenian interests.
- The events in Kazakhstan may serve as a new active platform for clashes of interest between Russia and Turkey, with possible repercussions or results.
Note: The positive outcome of the CSTO's substantial response under Armenia's presidency is that it can be regarded as an exemplary case of the alliance's activity in addressing threats faced by any of its members.
