Foreign Powers Outside the Region Have No Right to Intervene in Regional Issues: Abdollahian at Meeting with Aliyev
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian believes that the "3+3" format can contribute to the strengthening of peace and stability in the region. During a meeting in Baku with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Iranian minister discussed Iran's participation in the "3+3" format, noting that this cooperation is aimed at bolstering peace and stability in the region, and emphasized that foreign powers outside the region have no right to intervene in regional issues.
He also asserted that the countries of the region can independently address their problems, as reported by Mehr.
In turn, Aliyev stated that regional issues should be resolved by the countries of the region themselves, adding: "We are opposed to the involvement of countries outside the region in regional matters. We believe that regional ties are beneficial for all countries in the region."
Additionally, Abdollahian met with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. During a joint press conference with him, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated: "There is no need for external intervention. We should not ask countries outside the region to decide our fate and solve our problems. They have no place in our region. The countries of the region have the necessary will to solve the issues."
