18-Year-Old Youth Detonates Bomb in Russia's Monastery, Resulting in Death
In the town of Serpukhov, Russia, 18-year-old Vladislav Struzhenkov detonated a bomb within the premises of a monastery. The young man succumbed to his injuries shortly after the explosion. He was a student at the monastery's parish school and had reportedly complained about being bullied (either physically or psychologically).
This information has been reported by Interfax and TASS, citing their sources.
“Preliminary data suggests that the motive for the crime was the suspect's hatred towards the school’s teachers and nuns, stemming from personal antagonistic relationships,” said the source, adding that the assailant had endured violence during his studies.
The explosion also injured a 15-year-old teenager, who has been hospitalized at the Lyubertsy Burn Center. An additional six minors were injured, but did not require hospitalization. The Prosecutor of Moscow Oblast and the city prosecutor of Serpukhov have arrived at the scene to investigate further.
