The Mourning is Over: Artak Beglaryan Discusses What Needs to Be Done
Artak Beglaryan, the State Minister of Artsakh, wrote on his page: “As we mark the first anniversary of the end of the 44-day war, there is much to say, analyze, and do. However, the most important message is that we must simply live and create in our homeland for all the values for which our boys went into conscious self-sacrifice.
This past year has been filled with numerous contradictory emotions and actions for the Armenian nation, but I would consider the determination of the people of Artsakh to return to their homeland and restore it through prolonged struggle as the most significant. Despite the severity of the situation and psychological difficulties, like many others, I have been engaged in this holy work from day one, bearing my share of the cross through assuming responsibility in executive power.
I hope to soon address our present state and future vision comprehensively in an article, but let me briefly outline the five pillars and qualities on which we must build the long-term future of Artsakh:
- Five main pillars: stable security, growing demographics, a developing economy, quality education, and effective governance.
- Five main qualities that we must embrace as a nation: self-analysis, unity, perseverance, strategic thinking, and a service mentality.
The mourning is over, and the best way to honor and immortalize the memory of our fallen heroes is to serve wholeheartedly the values they advocated. We can and must ensure the Armenian future of Artsakh while achieving the unconditional recognition and respect for our rights, freedoms, values, and dignity in our own homeland.”
