After Actions by the Armenian Armed Forces in the Sevan Lake Area, Azerbaijan Appeals to Russia: Defense Ministry
On November 10, certain Azerbaijani media outlets reported that a scuffle occurred between Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers in the area of Sevan Lake in Armenia's Syunik Province, claiming that a group of Armenian soldiers had found themselves surrounded.
This misinformation was later echoed by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, which asserted that 60 Armenian soldiers were trapped and that they were released only through Russian mediation.
The statement from Azerbaijan's defense authority is categorically false. Furthermore, it was the Azerbaijani Armed Forces that requested assistance from the Russian side to resolve the situation following provocations from their side after actions by the Armenian Armed Forces in the Sevan Lake region, and it was through the active efforts of the Russian side that the situation was stabilized.
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia reaffirms that the situation in the Sevan Lake area is fully under the control of the Armenian Armed Forces.
