I Cannot Claim That There Will Not Be a Rise in Gas and Electricity Tariffs in 2022: Garegin Baghramyan
“Negotiations regarding the gas price may have some influence on electricity. The discussions are not completed yet. They will conclude when the intergovernmental agreement is signed. If the gas price at the border remains at the current level (165 dollars for 1000 cubic meters), then there will be no increase in tariffs. In any case, revisions in the energy system are conducted every year, regardless of whether it will affect consumers or not,” said Garegin Baghramyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia, during a press briefing, addressing the potential increase in gas and electricity tariffs. He added: “I cannot claim that there will not be a rise in gas and electricity tariffs in 2022.” The official noted that losses of water in the ‘Veolia Jur’ company amount to 80 percent, but this is not connected to the intention to raise tariffs.
