Threats Discussed at CSTO Meeting

The main threats facing the CSTO are the increase in international terrorism and the growing U.S. military presence in Europe. This was stated by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to him, the primary source of danger for CSTO member states is the rise in activity and geographical expansion of international terrorist and extremist organizations, as well as the actions of Western states aimed at enhancing coalition and national military capabilities, alongside the active expansion of the U.S. military presence in Europe.

He also mentioned the increasing scale of operations in cyberspace, the ongoing anti-Russian rhetoric of Ukrainian authorities, and the maintenance of military tensions in Syria and Afghanistan as part of the threats.
