Azerbaijan Has Not Released Iranian Drivers, Statement from Iranian Official
The official representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, has announced that Azerbaijan has released two Iranian prisoners to serve the remainder of their sentence in Iran, according to Mehr news agency. He clarified that this does not pertain to the Iranian truck drivers detained by Azerbaijani soldiers on the Goris-Kapan road, which had previously been reported by Iranian media and denied by Baku.
Khatibzadeh stated, "The results of consultations regarding the release of the two Iranian drivers arrested by the Azerbaijani government will be announced later." Earlier, Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee denied reports from Iranian media regarding the return of the two Iranian drivers to Iran.
