Liana Gyurjyan Defeats Turkish Weightlifter to Become European Champion

The European Weightlifting Championships for athletes under 20 and under 23 years of age continue in Rovaniemi, Finland. Just recently, the competitions for the girls in the under 20 category up to 81 kg weight class concluded. Armenia was represented by Liana Gyurjyan.

Gyurjyan performed excellently and brought another gold medal to our team. With a combined lift of 216 kg (95 + 121), Liana became the European champion, surpassing Turkish athlete Sara Yenigun by 3 kg. Liana also claimed one small gold and one silver medal.

This marks the fifth championship gold medal for our national team.
