"We Cannot Exclude That Cases of Siberian Plague May Be Registered" - Vahe Danielyan
“At this moment, the focus of the Siberian plague is isolated, and no new cases of illness have been recorded among either humans or animals. However, we cannot exclude the possibility of new cases being registered because in the past, there have been other areas in the republic where cases were recorded, and due to the drought this year, this risk has increased,” said Vahe Danielyan, head of the Food Safety Department of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), during a press conference today.
According to him, the government allocates funds every year for the mandatory vaccination of animals against the Siberian plague. “But no vaccine provides a 100 percent result, and that risk is always present,” Danielyan expressed his concerns.
