VIDEO: Critical Water Level Recorded in Sochi Due to Heavy Rainfall, Over Half of Houses Underwater
Due to heavy rainfall, critical water levels have been recorded in the Khreota and Matsesta rivers in Sochi, prompting the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region to urge residents to prepare for possible evacuations and gather essential belongings, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"Continuous heavy rains in the Adler and Khostinsky districts of Sochi have led to a significant increase in the water levels of the Khreota and Matsesta rivers. Residents have been informed about the rivers overflowing their banks and the potential for flooding. We urge residents to remain calm, gather documents, and essential items in case of a necessary evacuation due to the situation," the headquarters stated in a press release.
It was noted that personnel from the 'Kuban SPAS' and 'Sochi Rescue Service' are on standby to assist the population if necessary.
