33-Year-Old Man Beats Father and Then Detonates Grenade in Ejmiatsin: Casualties Reported
On June 26, at 22:15, the Vagharshapat police received a report of a grenade explosion resulting in two injuries. An operational group dispatched to the scene discovered that around the same time, in a house in Ejmiatsin, a father and son were involved in a heated argument. During the confrontation, the 33-year-old son, under the influence of alcohol, assaulted his father and then retrieved a grenade from a hiding place in the bedroom.
He pulled the grenade's pin and threatened to detonate it. However, the father managed to escape. Despite this, the young man detonated the grenade, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old man present at the scene, while he himself was injured and transported to a hospital, where he also died.
During the investigation of the scene, the metal pin of the grenade was found in the living room, and three 7.62 mm caliber bullets were discovered in the corridor. Expert examinations have been ordered, and relevant materials are being prepared.
