Aliyev Declares Occupied Armenian Shushi as Azerbaijan's Cultural Capital
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has enacted a law declaring the occupied Armenian city of Shushi as Azerbaijan’s cultural capital.
According to Azerbaijani media reports, the law creates a state reserve within the administrative territory of the city. The document also defines the main directions of state policy for the development of the city.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has been tasked with determining and approving the boundaries of the security zone of the Shushi state reserve, establishing the security regime for the zone, and within three months, approving the procedure for monitoring the city's monuments. Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers is to prepare a list of types of entrepreneurial activities that are prohibited in the reserve and submit proposals regarding sources of funding for the reserve to the head of state within three months.
