Armen Charachyan Acknowledges Conversation with Colleagues; Abrahamyan Comments on Notorious Recording
As previously reported, a criminal case is being investigated by the RA Investigative Committee regarding the alleged coercion of employees of a medical institution by the head of the facility to participate in the extraordinary parliamentary elections. In this context, on suspicion of committing a crime defined under the second part of point 4 of Article 154.2 of the RA Criminal Code, A. Ch., who was included in the list of candidates for the parliamentary elections set for June 20, 2021, was arrested. This was announced by Gorg Abrahamyan, an advisor to the RA Prosecutor General, on his Facebook page.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered in the criminal case, the fact and content of the incident present in the recording has been confirmed. A. Ch. admitted to the existence of the conversation with his colleagues on the morning of his arrest.
The prosecutor overseeing the legality of the pre-trial investigation has submitted petitions to the RA Central Electoral Commission in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure, regarding initiating criminal prosecution against A. Ch. and granting permission for his detention, considering that he is a candidate for the parliamentary elections.
