40-Year-Old Man Demands Police Leave the Scene, Then Shoots Himself in the Jaw: New Details
At around 01:30 on April 22, 2021, a report was received by the Vagharshapat Division of the RA Police from the Vagharshapat Medical Center regarding a 59-year-old resident of Ejmiadzin who had been admitted with a "stab-wound to the left side of the chest," as informed by the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
As a result of measures taken, it was revealed that at around 01:10 on April 22, 2021, in front of a house on Ostrakovsky Street in the Zvartnoc neighborhood of Ejmiadzin, a 40-year-old resident of the same city attempted to murder the 59-year-old man during a personal dispute, inflicting injuries with a cutting and stabbing instrument to the latter's chest, causing the mentioned bodily harm. However, for reasons beyond his control, he did not complete the crime and left the scene.
A short time later, the 40-year-old man returned to the aforementioned location with an illegally kept "AK 103" type firearm, where he encountered law enforcement officers of the RA Police. While uttering obscenities, the man demanded the police leave, after which he fired erratically from his firearm in a manner endangering numerous lives, intending to unlawfully kill them. However, for reasons beyond his control, he was unable to complete the crime, fled the scene, and then shot himself in the jaw with the same firearm, resulting in a "gunshot wound to the lower jaw." He was subsequently transported to the medical center by police officers.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Vagharshapat Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee of the Armavir Region under the characteristics of Articles 34-104, Part 1; 34-104, Part 2, Points 2 and 6; and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, which has been assigned to an investigative group. An investigation is underway.
Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident.
Notice: A suspect or an accused individual is presumed innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code through a legally binding court decision.
