No Structures Will Be Legalized on State and Community Lands Starting from Day X, Says Marutyan
The idea of legalization of illegal constructions is the most misguided concept that has led to the chaos prevailing in Yerevan. This was stated today, April 20, during a Yerevan City Council meeting by Mayor Hayk Marutyan.
He recalled that during his second month in office, they submitted a proposal to the government, requesting to amend the provisions concerning state and community lands. “This means that starting from Day X, no structures will be legalized on state and community lands. Unfortunately, two years have passed, and we have not seen any results in this direction. We face this issue every day. If people believe that whatever they build will eventually be legalized, it will lead to even more chaotic construction. These refusals at least serve as a restraining measure for those who engage in illegal construction. Let’s clarify that we are talking about illegal construction. When it is described as spontaneous, it sounds more benign, but in reality, it is illegal construction,” stated Marutyan.
